Once upon a time, there was a little girl who dreamed of magic. Her name was Claire. She wanted to become a witch, a globe trotter, a princess, a seamstress, a president, a gymnastics champion, a castanet dancer, a reporter, an actress, a doctor and so much more. She wished she could be all these things in one lifetime. She was told it was impossible, that she had to choose. It was underestimating little Claire, who already had an air of magician under her bangs. She succeeded in becoming all that, thanks to the great power of books.
Little Claire grew up, but never took her nose out of her books. When asked what she wanted to do later in life, the question was quickly answered: enter the world of books. She moved to Lille and began studying for a Humanities and Information Sciences degree. There, she studied the first written histories, Antiquity and the mysteries of HTML code, creating her first website: Le Trône de l'Antiquité. Claire fell in love with the Latin language and got a degree in this discipline alongside her studies.
After three years in Lille, Claire landed in the West. It was in Angers that she pursued her dream and her studies in a Master's degree in Publishing. There, she discovered the secrets of DTP, studied the art of writing, acquired further knowledge of literature and the history of books, and in the spring began an internship in a publishing house.
Claire discovered the inner workings of the publishing industry when she moved to Paris. At Éditions Libre, she applied what her apprenticeship had taught her and learned even more. She visited many bookshops, corrected many texts, poured them into Indesign, and experimented with book fairs. She returned from the capital richer with knowledge.
But the story doesn't end there. On the contrary, it's just beginning. Her final year of study came and new quests
were handed to her: organizing the Journée de l'Édition 2024,
with her class, creating the present website and finding a new internship.
She took her place on the JDE creation committee, where she could let her creativity do the talking.
Her search for an internship was tedious, but she found her place at Editions Sapho.
This good-natured publisher will be celebrating its 50th birthday this year, and would like to publish an anniversary book to mark the occasion. Claire will be taking part in this editorial adventure right up to the book's launch at the Salon du Végétal in September 2024.
In the meantime, follow the ladybug!
